Teams from Future FC in blue and Los Angeles Soccer Club in white lined up on the field at Charter Oak High School before the match.

On Thursday, Future FC and the Los Angeles Soccer Club Tied 1-1 in UWS play.

Pre-game

This matchup will be the second encounter between the two clubs, as LASC gave Future FC their biggest defeat in club history, 4-1, back on Father’s Day. Since then, FFC won against Tudela FC before this game. They sit second in the UWS west with a 2-2-1 record and 7pts. Midfielder Kamdyn Jalayer is the top goal scorer for the club, with three goals this season.

The hosts, LASC, are coming off their first loss of the season, a 2-1 result to Tudela FC, which occurred on the 20th. They are on top of the west table with a 2-1-1 record and 7 points—the same as FFC but with a +4 GD.

Game Recap

On a sunny Thursday afternoon at Charter Oak High School in Covina, the match between the visiting FFC, in blue, and the hosts, LASC, in white, gets underway.

Immediately at the whistle, FFC applied heavy offensive pressure to where they could have scored within the first few minutes. LASC played from the back and had less possession, while FFC had more intensity, was physical, and demonstrated intelligent soccer IQ, making smart plays.

It seemed to go the visitor’s way in the first 20 minutes of play, but slowly, the mistakes started to accumulate, and LASC was taking advantage of them. Defensively, FFC was being outrun by the LASC forwards in footraces after dump-and-chase plays. FFC then struggled to enter the final third, as the build-up of play didn’t result in many chances.

When LASC reached the final third, they also struggled to get a clear and open shot, but they did have more opportunities being 1v1 with the goalkeeper. The hosts also won more 50/50 balls and capitalized on the Blues’ risky defensive clearances.

Eventually, LASC broke the tension in the 44′ after the forward received a pass near the half circle, tussled free from two defenders, and slotted it home to the left to end the half 1-0 for the hosts.

The second half kicked off, and, like the first half, FFC retained possession and continued to apply pressure. They played the long ball on the ground more than the first half, then tried to make pass plays in a crowded, compact LASC defense at the half circle.

Despite this barrier, they overcame it in the 55′ with a goal by top scorer Kamdyn Jalayer, who makes a rainbow shot under pressure from the 20-yard line and over the keeper. The game is now 1-1.

Just like the first half, the waves of attack were now in LASC’s favor as they played counterattack, reaching the final third, but couldn’t position themselves to get a shot from the physical FFC defense.

The game would end 1-1 even as I had to leave in the 65′ to catch my train home.

Post Game

According to the website, IEFC has withdrawn, which FFC was scheduled to play for the last game of the season. Therefore, this game is the last of the regular season for FFC. Kamdyn Jalayer is the top goal scorer with 4 goals. Since two games are remaining in the West, those results will determine whether FFC will stay in 2nd place to finish the season.

LASC, following the result, is still 1st in the table with a 2-1-2 record, 8 pts, and a GD of +4. They have their last game on the road against SoCal FC on Saturday.
